If it can’t be measured, measure it anyway! – Robert Lawson

Lord Kelvin famously pronounced, “When you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it, when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meager and unsatisfactory kind”.

At the O’Neil Center we saysmu_cox_oneil_center_lock-up_042516_final, “If it can’t be measured, measure it anyway!”

Whether it be the measurement of the level of economic freedom at the national level (Economic Freedom of the World), state level (Economic Freedom of North America), city level (The Wealth of Cities) or the measurement of our standard of living (Onward and Upward–Bet on Capitalism: It Works), the scholars at the O’Neil Center for Global Markets and Freedom in SMU’s Cox School of Business work to increase our understanding of the impact of competitive market forces on freedom and prosperity in the global economy.
